Everybody has some knowledge or experience in their life. This could be your study, your job, etc.
The main reason to have good knowledge of the niche in which you’re going to start your blog because the more knowledge you have the more you will be able to share with your audience.
For instance, there are many bloggers have hundreds of articles on their blog because they know about that topic very well.
But wait, is this the only thing that you should consider to choose a niche?
The answer is “NO”. So what should you do now?
Simply write down at least 5-10 topics that you know or you have some sort of knowledge and expertise about that topic and move to the next process.
Step 2: Find Your Passion

Because blogging is a long-term process and it can take months or even years to see the results in your blog.
And if you’re not interested in something you’re are blogging about then you will not stick to it for a long time if don’t get success.

Just assume, you’re not passionate about the topic that you have selected for your blog and also you’re not getting any results from your blog for a long time.
What will you do? Will you stick to it and keep working on your blog even if you don’t get any results?
I am pretty sure, your answer would be “NO”.

But on the other hand, if you are interested in that topic then you will stick to it for a long time even if you don’t get any results from it even for months.

Just assume, you are blogging for years without getting any results. You’ve done everything to get traffic to your blog but your blog is not getting much traffic.

No matter what topic you choose for your blog, there are many authoritative blogs out there publishing on the same topic for years.
But they can’t cover every single topic on that particular niche so you can find problems that those blogs are not covering.
You can use QNA Sites like Quora to find these types of questions. Simply note down all the questions that you’re interested to answer.
Find at least 15-20 questions in every niche that you’ve selected, write it down and move to the next step.
Step 4: Find The Monthly Search Volume
The main reason to consider the search volume of your niche is you can’t get enough traffic to your blog if no one is searching for it.
Simply find the search volume of your blog niche and also check some other keywords in your niche.
If they all have a decent amount simply mark the topics on your list that you are preparing.
And if the niche that you’ve selected has a very low search volume then you should go with another niche.
How to find the search volume?
You can use Google Keyword Planner to find the search volume of keywords but it won’t show you the exact search volume instead it gives you a range of search volumes like 100-1k or 1k-10k.

You can use paid tools such as Ahrefs or SEMrush to find the exact search volume of your niche and keywords related to your niche.

Once you’ve checked the search volumes and found some topics that have a good number of search volumes then mark the topic in the list and move to the next step.
Step 5: Analyze Competition
You’ve marked down the topics that you know, you are also passionate about it, and there are thousands of traffic as well but this the main issue is competition.
Higher search volume means Higher competition.
If you’re just starting out and know nothing about blogging then I’d recommend you not choose any very competitive niche such as Health.
You can again use tools like Ahrefs or SEMrush to analyze the competition of your niche.
You can also check how much traffic they are getting on their blog.
Simply search your topic of Google, open the top websites that are ranking and paste the site URL in SEMrush Traffic Analytics Tool.
So once you’ve done these things like Writing the topics in which you’ve got the expertise, On which topic you’re passionate about, it’s search volume, competition, etc.
Now it’s time to move to the next step “Future Potential“
Step 6: Calculate The Future Potential
Calculating the potential of your niche is very crucial for the success of your blog.
If you choose a niche whose searches are decreasing regularly then I’d not recommend you to start your blog with this niche.
Let’s understand this point with an example. Just assume you have two niches Niche A & Niche B.
Niche A has monthly search volumes of 12K and Niche B has a search volume of 6K per month.
Now you have to choose a niche between Niche A & B, which niche will you choose?
Obviously, your answer would be Niche A.
But when I’ll tell you that the search volume of Niche A going down every month and within the next few months it will go around 2K.
And on the other hand, the search volume for Niche B is increasing every month and within a few months, it will cross the monthly searches of 10K.
Now tell me which niche will you prefer?
Yes!!! I know, Now your answer is Niche B.
Because the search volume of Niche A if going down and the search volume for Niche B is increasing.
That’s what the future potential actually means. Future potential means how your niche or keyword is going to perform in the future.
You can use free tools like Google Trends to see the historic search data of a keyword.
You can also compare 2 keywords historical data to find which keywords search volume trends are going down and which ones going up.
Step 7: Profitability
You have done everything and now you are getting thousands of visitors but what’s the point of those traffics if you can’t make money from it.
So it’s also important to find the profitability of a niche before choosing it as your blog’s niche.
How to find out whether a niche is profitable or not?
There are many ways to find whether the niche you’ve selected is profitable or not. Here we are going to explain a few of them.
1. Use Google Keyword Planner: You can use Google Keyword Planner to find the CPC and paid difficulty for a few keywords in your niche.
If the CPC & Paid Difficulty both are high that means it can be a profitable niche.
2. Find Related Affiliate Products: Try to find if there are any products available for affiliate marketers in your niche.
The more affiliate products are available the more profitable that niche can be.

As you are preparing the list from Step 1 so choose the niche that you have marked the most.
If you are confused between two niches then consider the low difficulty niche over the second one.
